Flammable and inflammable mean the exact same thing. It is one of the most ridiculous word conflagrations in the English language. Originally everyone used “inflammable” since it came from the romance languages and the root “flamma” just means fire, so “inflammable” meant to catch on fire, like “en flambe”, only not as tasty.

But then in English we started using the prefix “in” to mean “not” so we started just saying “flammable” because we are a confused and ignorant people.

And yes, I am a dork. But these two words are pet peeves of mine. So, there you go.
